4.4 - PLTS Indipendent enquiers

1) Identify questions to answer and problems to resolve

I wanted to find out how filming was developed and how it started. I also wanted to know what skills and qualifications you need to become a production assistant. Some questins I wanted to konw were:

Trevor Jarvis:

- How did you get in to animation?
- What is the history of animation?

Lokmen Chekki:

- What is the hardest part of your job?
- What important experience have you had when getting in to this industry?
- What is you role in the creative and media industry?
- How does the work you do vary?

6) Support conclusions, using reasoned arguments and evidence

I found out the answers by asking Lokmen Chekki who works for the BBC as a production assistant and Yoshito Darman who works as a cameraman.

4.4 - Planning steps that I took

Planning steps that I took

In the planning stage of this unit I helped out on making the storyboard and the risk assessment for the location in the school by the back gates where we used it for the fight and walking away scenes. At the first we all made our own storyboards but then we decided to change it and then we all created one together as the first one was the draft storyboard. Also I think that the risk assessment that I completed for the group was done well because I talked about all the different risks to take in consideration.

4.4 - Evaluation of research (4.1)

I think that for the research in this unit went well as I don e a lot of research related to the music video. I researched on all the different types of camera techniques and this is secondary research that I got from the internet, the software Moviestorm and this is a part of primary research as I went to a workshop and asked them about animation and the software itself and I have a information sheet with more information, how to use iMovie this is secondary research as I got this from youtube, different types of films (e.g. silent movie, black and white film) this is secondary research from the internet and some of my own knowledge from using the camera, Lokmen Chekki is a person working in the BBC and this is primary research as we asked him about, Trevor Jarvis is an animator that taught us how to do some animating fro our music video and this is primary research because I asked him about animation, types of record is secondary research as I looked on the internet about all the forms (e.g. audio, print, online, film), Missy Elliot music video review and this is secondary research. I did a review on Missy Elliot’s music video, “Get ur freak on” so I can see how some music videos are made and the different effects that can be used. To improve on this section of the unit I thing I could have other peoples experiences on using the camera.

4.3 - Experience with the Camera

Experience with the Camera

When I was filming with the camera it showed me the different ways of filming and that there are always more ways such as putting the camera onto a tripod and different angles and shots. I think that when I was handling the camera it showed me how I can develop my skills and try new things as I wasn't that confident about using the camera because I thought that I might drop it of damage it.

4.1 - 3D Movies

There are movies that are coming out in 3d as well as 2d. 3d is when it looks like the people in the movie are right next to you and you can touch them. You need some special glasses when watching a 3d movie. 4d is the next thing that will be coming out in a couple of years time. The way 4d works is that if something is happening in the movie the audience will feel it too. e.g. when water is being thrown at someone in the movie the audience will feel the same sensation. Also holograms are being invented were it looks like the people are on the side of you.
